Business Architect

Accountability/Position Summary
The Business Architect partners with appropriate experts to develop options for bringing the Corporate Strategy and Customer Operations & Service strategy to life, securing Senior Management approval, presenting necessary changes to the right audiences in the right way to achieve adoption, and administering implementation to ensure the complete solution is correctly implemented and properly modified to accommodate local conditions.
With the help of Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts, the Business Architect converts high-level strategy and business needs of the organization into business models that are then aligned with the Business and Operational Support Systems roadmap, produced by Network and Information Services.
Key Responsibilities
• Research the feasibility of new initiatives, assess emerging opportunities, lead pilot studies and address organizational sustainability, risks and challenges.
• Provide a conduit between corporate-wide strategy, innovations and best practices, and the functional departments.
• Prepare and present business cases for high-level initiatives to Senior Management for approval, funding, resource allocation and prioritization.
• Define and maintain business models for each line of business and align with business and operational support systems strategies and roadmaps.
• Facilitate cross-organizational knowledge-sharing forums among Subject Matter Experts and mentor new team members.
Specific Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills
• In depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies, with emphasis on next generation networking technologies and services
• Knowledge of The Open Group Architecture Forum (TOGAF) and the principles and best practices of enterprise architecture, with a business focus
• Solid understanding of Project Management, Business Analysis, Business Process Management and Change Management best practices
• Solid understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Education & Certification:
• Degree in business, IT, or Engineering, or equivalent experience
MBA or B. Comm. preferred
Experience:
• 10 or more years in a highly technical role in the telecommunications and/or IT industries
• Experience demonstrating aptitude in business planning, organizational development and organizational effectiveness
• Proven record of experience working on large scale, complex projects with tangible / referable results
• Proven track record in a lead consulting role, recommending projects and solution approaches
