Job Function This role within the Patent Department Operations Group is responsible for developing, coordinating and executing of the Patent Department Analytics Program. This roles also includes the daily support of patent and financial reporting, analysis, data validation and data integrity efforts. The IP Business Analytics Program serves to provide the Patent Department and other business groups within the company transparency and visibility into Qualcomm’s Intellectual Property Portfolio. This program provides the organization with the means to make strategic business decisions relating to the protection and development of Qualcomm’s technology and Intellectual property rights. The of potential duties and skill set required of this role may include (but are not limited to):
Skills/Experience *Must be efficient and accurate in data collection, analysis and reporting, and capable of absorbing, processing, and summarizing large amounts of information into concise reports for senior and executive management.

*Strong analytical skills, and the ability to understand high level and low level business and technical concepts is a must.

*Must posses excellent,organizational, process development, and problem solving skills with the ability to think logically and communicate questions, thoughts, and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.

*The ability to proactively assume responsibility, multi-task efficiently, and consistently follow through on assignments is critical.

*The ability to work effectively on a team and communicate well with both colleagues and internal customers at all levels of the organization is critical.

*An outgoing and proactive approach to communication and problem solving is essential and excellent written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Strong project and personnel management skills as well as leadership skills are required.

*Must display understanding of ethical and confidentiality requirements and demonstrate outstanding independent judgment.

*Requires the mastery of standard Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, MS Project, MS Access and Visio), strong computer expertise, and the ability to learn new applications and technologies rapidly. Experience with patent databases including, but not limited to, Anaqua preferred.
Responsibilities The qualified candidate will primarily be responsible for providing the following job functions:

*Providing visibility into the Qualcomm Intellectual Property Portfolio including related financial data and metrics by working with management team and patent department personnel to benchmark, trend, forecast, and measure metrics and data from multiple data sources.

*Create custom reports and analysis on request including the building of reports to provide consistent and accurate data to the business.

*Work with IT Legal and Patent Department Personnel to develop new tools pertaining to patent data analysis.

  • Validate data and analysis, create data assurance scripts, assist with addressing data integrity, and accurately measure data health.
  • Work closely with Chief Patent Counsel and Patent Department VPs to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Work with Patent Department Management Team and Finance to support quarterly financial outlooks, validations and modeling, and assist with Patent Department strategic initiatives.
  • Provide liaison support with IT resources to ensure technical changes meet operational needs.

  • Additional duties may include providing supervisory guidance, direction and management, to other administrative support staff including legal specialists and/or project analysts.

Education Requirements Required: Bachelor’s, Accounting and/or Finance and/or Information Technology or equivalent experience. Experience with patents preferred.
